Our story
Hillmount House is a privately owned Georgian gentleman’s residence near Drains Bay, just outside Larne. Its Georgian part was given Grade II listed status in the late 1970s, along with the gate lodge and gates.
Over a four-year project, owners Andrew Brennan and Simon Croal, with Managing Director Naomi Brennan, refurbished, renovated and replanted the house and its ten acres. Today the estate hosts one wedding a day, run by a small, owner-operated team.

The estate
From the vows on the lawn to the last dance, the day moves through the gardens, the house, the courtyard, the Coach House and The Barn, all within a short walk of one another.
The Gardens
Behind the house, the gardens fall away towards Drains Bay and the sea beyond. Charming pathways, mature trees and a wild meadow give you a choice of settings for your ceremony, drinks or portraits.
The House
The Georgian house itself is kept for the two of you and your closest family and friends, up to ten guests in all. Five double or twin bedrooms sit above a drawing room, formal dining room, cosy living room and a large kitchen and dining room.
On a Multi Day Celebration the house is yours from 2pm the day before your wedding. Our housekeeper settles you in and serves breakfast, so the morning of the wedding begins slowly, with no carriages needed at the end of the night.
The Courtyard
The sheltered stone courtyard sits between the house and the Coach House. When the weather is kind, it is where the drinks reception happens: a glass of fizz, canapés, speeches in the sun or ice-cream.
It leads straight into the Coach House and its upstairs terrace, and connects to The Barn, so guests drift outside between dinner and the first dance.

Exposed stone walls and soft lighting give the Coach House an intimate, rustic elegance. It hosts ceremonies for up to 100 guests and drinks receptions, with an open courtyard below and an elegant upstairs terrace.

All FAQsThere is no minimum. The Barn seats up to 150 for your wedding meal, and up to 200 guests in total for the evening.
No. We host one wedding per day, so the venue is exclusively yours.
Yes. Ceremonies can be held outdoors on the Formal Lawn or in the Meadow (weather permitting), or indoors in the Coach House or The Barn. Ceremonies held here carry a charge of £450 for weddings in 2026 to 2028 (£550 in 2029), in addition to venue hire.
